Get close to me Elder Priss ordered as she sensed more and more spatial portals appearing.
From these spatial portals, countless magic beasts poured out. Thankfully, while their numbers increased, their strength didnt.
The combined power of the twenty peak Senior beasts from earlier was still higher compared to the combined might of thousands of Junior Beasts and fewer Senior Beasts.
They were all killed with a single wave of Elder Priss hand. However, even when she killed thousands of beasts, more are appearing.
The flood that the Sage of magic beasts caused destroyed the outer city walls, and the magic beasts cannot be stopped anymore.
As far as the eyes could see, the figures of magic beasts filled ones vision. Even from a distance, they can be seen.
Since the anniversary party was held inside Headmaster Trysts magic tower, they are currently inside the outer walls. They are to face the first wave of attacks from the enemies.
Fortunately, with a Great Mage with them, they were relatively safe.
Soon, they saw a streak of white light tearing through the sky. Just the shockwaves emitted from flying that fast shredded the magic beasts that were caught, their bodies falling to the ground with a plop.
Its the Guardian everyone thought in their minds. Only the Guardian could have such speed before Elder Priss became a Great Mage.
True enough, the white streak of light was indeed the Guardian of humanity. The Great Mage who founded the City of Hope.
His face was currently filled with rage. Although it was only the outer walls that were destroyed, this was still a huge blow to humanity.
Most of the people in the City of Hope are living inside the outer walls. It took up more than half of humanitys territory. Losing it means losing more than half of the city.
As a mage who practically spent his whole life fighting to carve a place for humanity, this was not something that the Guardian could tolerate.
His eyes locked on a certain figure inside the flood of water.
SAGE OF THE MAGIC BEASTS! HOW DARE YOU!
The Guardians thunderous voice rang while looking at a turtle magic beast hiding inside the flood of water.
The Sage of the magic beasts was a turtle with crimson skin. It was not only a powerful Great Rank beast, but it was also smart and cunning.
It was the reason why humanity failed to continue conquering the realm.
If the Guardian was the one that ensured humanitys survival, the Sage, on the other hand was the one that kept the magic beasts supremacy in this realm.
As a turtle, its affinity for water was extremely high, and at the first wave of attacks in the City of Hope, it made sure to cover a large area with water to its advantage.
Humanity will be purged! Magic beasts, attack!
With the Sages aura, a hundred Senior Beasts hiding inside the flood of water erupted, and they threw their magic at the Guardian.
The magic beasts have always been advantageous when it comes to their numbers, and now, the Sage is using their numbers to their advantage.
Once the Guardian of humanity falls, humanity itself would be defeated. As long as the Senior beasts manage to consume the Guardians power, their lives would have meaning.
Still, in front of a Great Mage, Senior beasts were no different than fragile papers. The Guardian raised his hand, and from it, an orb of lightning materialized.
The surrounding space immediately trembled as if it would shatter at any moment from now. The power of a Great Mage can harm even the space of the Savage Beast Realm.
From the orb of lightning, countless bolts of lightning shot out, and they fried the magic beasts to death.
However, the Sage was indifferent to the deaths of its own kind. It controlled the flood of water nearby, and thousands of junior beasts wrapped in water charged towards the Guardian.
While they are far weaker than senior beasts, they made up in numbers. Too bad that even though there were thousands of them, a single bolt of lightning was enough to kill any of them in one shot.
Stop being such a coward! The Guardian said in disgust while watching the Sage throw the lives of its subordinates just to conserve its own power.
While the Guardian loves humanity, the Sage clearly only views its own people as tools. They are simply not the same.
Heh… is it cowardice or a brilliant tactic? The Sage retorted. It was never a hot-blooded beast.
It would rather put its own race into the brink of extinction than risk its own life. It knew how strong the Guardian was due to the times they had clashed in the past.
The Guardian was stronger than it. If they were to have a one-on-one battle, the Sage definitely would lose.
Fortunately, it has many subordinates it could sacrifice. Every life lost means a bit of the Guardians power was consumed.
At the end of the day, a swarm attack is still effective against a Great Mage. As long as the Great Mage has no intention of fleeing or they cannot flee, a large number of Junior and Senior beasts can drive such a mage to death.
Only Noble Mages can survive a swarm tactic, provided that there is no enemy at the 4th rank.
Vile beast! The Guardian spat in disgust. He flew down, intending to charge straight to the Sage, but the Sage simply summoned even more water and magic beasts.
With the power of a Great Beast as well as a huge number of Junior and Senior beasts, the Guardian was stalled. He failed to reach the Sage, and he was forced to defend and kill the other magic beasts.
His mana is not unlimited, nor is he a Noble Mage who could mobilize the mana from his surroundings. It was only a matter of time before he lost.
As such, with eyes burning with determination, the Guardian covered himself with streaks of lightning. Any beast that dared to touch him was fried to death.
He was simply an impenetrable fortress, but it came with a huge mana burden.
With eyes filled with killing intent, the Guardian flew down once again, intending to enter the flood of water to take down the Sage.
Everywhere he passed, space would shatter, sending spatial fragments around. The beasts that were touched by the space fragments immediately died.
At this moment, the human mages started appearing again. When the Sage first attacked and destroyed the walls with its tsunami, the humans who were caught inside died.
After all, a Great Beast can kill them with a single move. Almost none had survived and the humans that appeared came from other areas.
Seeing the Guardian charging and fighting against the Sage, they decided to help.
Unfortunately, the help they could provide was limited. Due to the spatial storms and fragments, the human mages cannot come close enough to provide substantial help.
While the mindless beasts are fearless and randomly throw their lives away, the human mages are different.
They have a more complex emotion due to their wisdom. They are not courageous enough to brave the danger without a care for their own life.
They can accept dying from the attack of magic beasts, but dying because the spatial storm and fragments shred their bodies into pieces was a different matter.
Such a death was not something that they could readily accept. As such, despite the arrival of human mages, the Guardian received limited help.
In the water, the Guardians figure tore through any obstacles. The lightning surrounding his body ensures that any magic beasts that come near him will die.
Even the water that the Sage was controlling to push him away was failing the Sage.
In the end, the Sage had to release multiple crimson beams of light to stall the Guardian while it called for more magic beasts.
Although the dying magic beasts cannot really harm the Guardian, they could at least force him to waste mana.
While the beasts die, the Sage continues to control water to either push the Guardian away or use the water to move its own body around to keep their distance.
However, the Guardians superiority when it comes to individual power showed itself, and it soon reached the Sage.
In the end, the Sage was forced to retract its limbs to hide inside its turtle shell.
Bang!
The Guardians fist landed on the hard turtle shell, but while the shell trembled violently and the hiding Sage felt a strong impact, in the end, the Guardian still failed to cause substantial damage.
Still, if one punch is not enough, then the Guardian will throw two. If even two punches are not enough, he would throw even more punches until this turtles shell shattered.
The Guardian would make sure that the Sage would finally die today, even at the cost of his own life!
